Hello folks! Welcome to another edition of "Stuff That I made." Here we have some scroll-props featuring characters from H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. I recently showed these at the Long Beach Comic Con and got a lot of positive feedback (as well as sales!) The top scroll is the "Litany of Dagon," featuring the father deity of the Deep Ones. The bottom is the "Codex Tsathoggua," showing the slothful fur covered bat-toad god being attended by his servitor ghouls.
These are printed on heavy cardstock, then several different methods are used to artificially age them - watercolor, acrylic, coffee grounds, soil, tea bags, bleach, etc. After it's aged it's given a coat of Modge Podge to protect it. The result looks a lot like it was drawn on old tanned seal hide with squid ink and sealed in a cave for a thousand years. More than one person came up and asked if they were done on real leather. Besides cleaning up around the edges there are no further digital enhancements to these images.
I am currently selling these on Esty for $9.99 if anyone wants one:
